Walked out on the spot

When I was still in school I worked at a restaurant and bar, that also had pizza open late. I told her when I got hired on that I had a family trip planned, and would need five days off in the middle of the summer for my Grandfathers 80th birthday. When I was still in school I worked at a restaurant and bar, that also had pizza open late.

I told her when I got hired on that I had a family trip planned, and would need five days off in the middle of the summer for my Grandfathers 80th birthday.

I had been enjoying my time there, and really liked the pizza. Around a month in the schedule came out that I had requested off. I was scheduled for the pizz station that whole weekend, and was told they were going to be busy and now couldn’t give me the time off. She said because I was good at the pizza station she needed me and wouldn’t hear about my trip again, and stormed off to the bar.

It was unfortunate because, again I liked the pizza, not because I had any affinity towards my boss.

I walked back and made myself a pizza, clocked out in the middle of my shift and never came back.

I got several upset calls. After a couple of voice messages she said she would give me the time off, and didn’t understand why it was so important to me.

They ended up closing the next year. Great food, terrible management.
