Was asked if I was a Family Man in promotion interview.

I work hard, do a good job and was offered a very large promotion yesterday, C-Suite level. But the promotion pitch has me worried. I'm the dad that never misses a game, I coach most of their teams actually. Sunday's are typically the only day I'm not doing a scheduled activity with one of my children. I had a consulting business for a while and loved the freedom, I could go into school for events and parties, chaperone field trips, but my son has a specific auto-immune disease that requires extremely expensive treatments, and so I now am a corporate drone, for the health care. Follow up question was “How long do you think that will be the case?” I gave them an estimate of when…

During the conversation the statement was made “You're a family man aren't you, your kids come first?” I said yes of course they do. Follow up question was “How long do you think that will be the case?” I gave them an estimate of when I believe my kids will be off to college and I won't spend as much time with them, it's not far off.

Then came the offer, if that timeline had been a bit longer would I have gotten the offer? I haven't accepted it yet. Part of me wants to because the pay will be life changing for my kids, no college debt etc. But that question worries me, how much of my life/soul will they want in exchange for that pay.
