As the title says. Company sent me an email this morning saying my last day is Friday. I'm contract so it's in their right to do so I guess but man does this fuck me over. I won't be able to pay rent this month because of it.
The kicker here though, they want me to train the new guy. The guy who has the position I was promised. (a full time position in the company) He is a nice guy don't get me wrong, but I don't want to pass on my knowledge of literary everything in the projects we are working on. It feels cruel. I want to just not show up but that would be unprofessional and if a future employer calls them I don't want it to effect that job.
I'm already going to file for unemployment. And I'm already searching for jobs. I have a few connections and strings I can pull so fingers crossed.
I just knew this was coming, ever sense the new guy came on about 3 weeks ago. We just came to the end of a project so I didn't see any other reason to hire a new person. Then, they are like, “train him in all this stuff you were specialized trained in, it's just for redundancy don't worry” I worried, knowing that I was gonna be let go soon. But I trained him anyway, super fast paced and generally unclear about a lot of things. He didn't have questions because he didn't know what the hell was going on. I kind of feel bad, but yet I was put in a shit situation. So fuck this company. They have never supported me in this job. No onboarding, I had to teach myself how to run the machines, and the expectation to remember every little thing I did. I take some medication that one of the side effects is that my memory is shit. They held that against me on so many occasions. How the hell am I meant to remember a specific detail from 5 months ago? Fuck you.
Anyway I needed to vent and figured this would be a good learning lesson for someone else. If you feel like you're being pushed out, you likely are.
