Was promised a pay rise after my 6 month probation. Waited 1 year to request the payrise, to make sure I had earned it. Fought for 2 months to get it. Was finally approved, an extra $2600/ year. I’m insulted and defeated. From $70,000 to $72,600.

As the title states, I have been fighting for a pay rise for the last 2 months.

Last week I got an email from HR “congratulating” me on the pay rise. They only included my new monthly salary (I get paid monthly). I was previously earning $5833 per month, now I'm earning $6050 per month.

A $220 per month pay rise.

I'm genuinely insulted and disappointed by this payrise. Its approx 3.5% increase, whereas CPI is at 7%.

I've already been applying for jobs in the $85k range, waiting for an offer.

Once the offer is received, I plan on using this to force a better payrise, or threaten leaving.

The first 12 months of my employment, I was working 16 hour days (no overtime) to learn everything and make sure my job was 100% done.

I have now quiet quit. Bare minimum. Never go to the office.

Even though I've always been anti-work, I really dedicated my time and efforts to this company. The way this played out has just defeated me. Because it's a small company, I thought if I take care of them, they'll do the same. Fuck these guys.

Only reason I'm staying is because I've managed to mostly automate my job, to the point of working 1-2 hours a day and getting paid the full 9-6.
