Was working out of state and due to producer fuck up was sent home and not paid travel time, is that illegal?

Sorry for the long one. Was working a gig as a production assistant for an out of state non-union photo shoot. Hadn’t don’t non-union in a while but since the strike needed to look elsewhere. Big client and the producer was not good and micro managing. My job was to drive a 15 passenger van from NYC and back each day, along with help out on set and go on runs. First day ends in chaos they end up having to put me in a hotel because my other option was the metro north which they offered to pay for but not travel time (which I would’ve been paid for driving the van). I was fine with the hotel. Come the last day, another fuck up because a pa took an extra set of van keys to one he wasn’t driving, so the van I was supposed to drive couldn’t…

Come the last day, another fuck up because a pa took an extra set of van keys to one he wasn’t driving, so the van I was supposed to drive couldn’t go anywhere. I was stuck waiting for the pa to come back with the keys along with a few others. He sends a car full of PAs back to the city to get them off the clock( 4 ppl in a 6 seat), keeps me so I assume I’m driving the van. 10 min before the pa is back, he wraps me and says he isn’t paying for travel time back to the city. He said my Uber to metro north would be reimbursed, or I could wait unpaid and travel unpaid to the lot in Brooklyn. That’s an hour drive at least, or a hour plus on the train. I don’t think I can do anything about this. NY law says I must be paid if travel is part of my duties but he switched my duties (due to his fuck up) at the last minute essentially cutting an hour off my time (OT rate is 37.50 so not nothing). I don’t have anything it writing but I’m asking the other PAs to see if he texted them. Just pissed and slighted.
