Just came from a post about the CA minimum wage increase to $20. (Which doesn't cover stores with a bakery for some reason) The amount of people that are against it is astonishing. The biggest complaint…”my big Mac will cost more”.
While rising prices and cut hours are all real concerns, we as consumers are fully equipped to combat these greedy practices. Merchants can only raise prices as high as people are willing to pay.
I understand that there is inflation but some of the price increases are solely based in greed. These places are raising prices simply because they can. So I say instead of turning against the working poor just for wanting to make a wage that, honestly, still doesn't come close to affording any kind of housing, we organize as consumers and fight with our wallets. If a store raises their prices/cuts hours after a wage increase, boycott.
Pipe dream I know but I just had to vent after reading all the comments basically demanding a lower class of society so their little Caesars doesn't cost more.
