So for the longest time we were planning to move back to US (NY) from Belgium after my wife got her dual citizenship, and even starting move things over there in preparation of it. But we ended up changing our minds earlier this year and are staying.
We both have steady jobs and are protected by a national union (not just sector/company bound), are able to save enough to now buy a cute house in the center of our city. We both have at least 30 days PTO so we can go visit her family twice a year. My wife has had type 1 diabetes since 3 years old and is completely covered for free here. The stories of people in the US rationing their insulin etc terrify me.
Thing is, she wants to be with her family and get to see them more than a couple times a year, but at this point it just doesn't seem like a good idea to move to a place where it seems a lot harder to live a life as stable as we are now.
