We’re Screwing Over Our Own Children

I just retired, and my wife is close behind me. Income is stable, travel plans are being made, bucket lists are being written, but… I can't enjoy a single minute of what should be a triumphant, sweet moment. My young adult kids are struggling to just stay afloat. They can't find a job that doesn't involve french fries. They can't find affordable housing. They don't want to incur student loans only to find a shitty job market on the other end. Even though they both have insurance, they can't afford copays, coinsurance, deductibles, etc so they can't go to the doctor. They can't even find a therapist to help them deal with all of this. Mini wage should be at $25-30 an hour, but we can't bear to tell Jeff Bezos and the Walmart corp they can't have all the cookies.
