Had a company chasing me and offered me a really good deal that included WFH, so I agreed. I wanted to be a more present parent and that works super well. Not the company I really wanted to be at but the benefits made it worth it so why not.
We hired some more people and I got to be part of the interviews and heard them offer the new recruits WFH too, which they were excited about. We got one person who’s REALLY good at the role WFH was literally their sole reason for joining.
A couple months later and there’s suddenly a new direction and it’s no longer WFH and they’re “Sorry” they hired under false pretences and that being in the office is “important for relationship building”. This was said to us remotely as the manager is full WFH but they’re staying WFH.
Guarantee the newer people are going to quietly quit (they’re very sought after already) and management is going to wonder why.
