What are the possible repercussions of quitting without a two week notice?

Not me, but a friend of mine works at a really shitty department store. Coworkers are shit, Management’s even shittier. Her next shift falls on her payday, which is direct deposit and usually in her account between 12-3am. The store demands a two-week notice in the event that someone quits, but she’s getting paid for all the shifts that she has worked thus far, and has no intention of putting her time there on her résumé. Her plan is to walk in on her next shift, turn in her belongings, simply say “I quit” and walk out. She doesn’t want to make a big show of it, but she also doesn’t want to face any potential legal troubles.
