What are your micromanagement to death stories?

I worked in a lab Job was great at first, I could absolutely control my own flow of work. But as time went on , they turned the screw. Death by a 1000 cuts DO this and do that, even if it slows down the flow of work! By the end, I was required to write on the white board where I was if I left the lab (even if I was leaving for two minutes) and take the hands free phone with me, even though it went out of range as soon as I left the main doors. Told them this…. “Doesn't matter, make sure you take the phone with you” But as soon as I leave the lab, there is no signal! “Doesn't matter, make sure you take the phone with you” What's the point, it will not connect “Doesn't matter, make sure you take the phone…

I worked in a lab

Job was great at first, I could absolutely control my own flow of work.

But as time went on , they turned the screw.

Death by a 1000 cuts

DO this and do that, even if it slows down the flow of work!

By the end, I was required to write on the white board where I was if I left the lab (even if I was leaving for two minutes) and take the hands free phone with me, even though it went out of range as soon as I left the main doors. Told them this….

“Doesn't matter, make sure you take the phone with you”

But as soon as I leave the lab, there is no signal!

“Doesn't matter, make sure you take the phone with you”

What's the point, it will not connect

“Doesn't matter, make sure you take the phone with you”

Final straw.

I left and got another job and for five month they had no one, and it was chaos.

9 times out of 10, managers cause far far more problems and stress then they solve
