what can I realistically expect when unionizing? (usa)

I work for a bank. myself and my coworkers are interested in forming a union to negotiate better pay, benefits, etc. my wife brought up the very valid concern that wrongful or not, I might lose my job, or considering she works at the same company, she could as well. we've started discussing bolstering our emergency fund. that said I also want realistic expectations, so I've got some questions: if I am fired for organizing, what can I expect the NLRB to do? are wrongful termination cases like this won with any sort of promising frequency? if a case is brought up, how long do they generally take? are there ways to receive financial support during a wrongful termination suit (ie mutual aid groups, grants, etc)? beyond that I'm also looking for general advice. our staff that is below management level consists of myself and four others, with an assistant…

I work for a bank. myself and my coworkers are interested in forming a union to negotiate better pay, benefits, etc.

my wife brought up the very valid concern that wrongful or not, I might lose my job, or considering she works at the same company, she could as well. we've started discussing bolstering our emergency fund.

that said I also want realistic expectations, so I've got some questions:

  1. if I am fired for organizing, what can I expect the NLRB to do?

  2. are wrongful termination cases like this won with any sort of promising frequency?

  3. if a case is brought up, how long do they generally take?

  4. are there ways to receive financial support during a wrongful termination suit (ie mutual aid groups, grants, etc)?

beyond that I'm also looking for general advice. our staff that is below management level consists of myself and four others, with an assistant manager who may or may not need to also vote, but I have no idea. and again, it's a bank. so we're just one branch. I'm pretty sure — but not entirely — that I wouldn't need to think of other branches, only my immediate work group.

anyways, thanks in advance for any and all help!!
