Okay here is my issue. I got hired at the county I work at as an eligibility specialist in May of 23'. Now they are hiring for the same job for a dollar an hour more and a hiring incentive of like 2k on the first check and additional thousands on the years after. I applied during the bottom of the hiring shortage in November right before they started advertising hiring incentives. I joined after any kind of covid bonus which the people who came before me have enjoyed. It just doesn't sit well that we're bringing on new people who will have a nice bonus and I'm struggling despite being in the same “on boarding class” as they are, essentially.. Is there any way I could appeal to HR or my union? If I'm just out of luck then so be it but still it doesn't sit well.
