after 4 months of struggling running an entire department on my own despite only having exactly one year experience in my career field, we have slowed down SO much to where i no longer have much of any work.
i graduated from college last spring and landed an in-house graphic design role. i was hired under a girl who had been working here for several years now. she was threatening to quit if they didn’t hire anyone else to help her out with the extreme workload she was dealing with. so they hired me, fresh out of college and with very minimal print knowledge. that’s fine, i learned, got fast at my job, and eventually had to take over the department early February as our printer resigned and the girl i was hired under was moving into the printer’s job. so, i was basically on my own for the rest of the year, ESPECIALLY during our BUSIEST season: fall. for the past 4 months, i have been insanely stressed out, frustrated, and burnt out while trying to keep up with the workload that was meant for 3 people, not 1.
but now, our printer was hired back and the girl i was hired under moved back to graphics. we have finally slowed down after the atrocity of our fall season, and now i was asked to step BACK from graphics and help out our one sole web designer.
i have finished all my tasks and have been waiting on a response from him, but other than that, i am NOT allowed to take what little graphics jobs we have in the system. yknow, gotta share now.
i don’t want to leave my job, love most of the people here and the work culture is great. but i have too much time on my hands and it makes every day go by so slow.
i have already reconstructed and updated my resume and worked on all my personal projects. i sit here at my desk browsing reddit for hours every day. does anyone have any other ideas to kill some time?
