I’m a registered nurse looking to get out of nursing because it’s horrible and pursue passions that are more fun to me: like BBQ! So I applied for a pit staff position at Terry Blacks, a famous BBQ restaurant with locations in Austin, Dallas, and Lockhart, Texas.
I live in Dallas.
I spoke with Gabe, a manager there and he invited me in for an interview.
Had the interview, it was fine. Gabe said he’d talk to the GM and I’d receive a call the following week and maybe do a phone interview with her. Great!
Next week comes. Radio silence.
I call on a Tuesday to follow up and was told Gabe was in a meeting. No problem. Will call back another time.
Wait another 24 hours. Call back to follow up again. This time I’m told, “Gabe isn’t here, and if we’re interested in moving forward don’t call us we’ll call you.”
….
What the fuck is that about? How about some common fucking courtesy and giving ME a 10 second phone call to let me know if I got the job or not? Glad I dodged a bullet and avoided that toxic ass work environment, but goddamn, why do they have to make people feel so bad?
I’m a person with feelings. You can’t take 10 seconds out of your day to be a decent fucking human being? Christ.
