I remember I used to love this farm market with Cafe attached. It was super busy during the tourist season and was literally packed with people. They employed a few local people who relied on the wages they paid. There were tip jars and tip sharing was a thing that was accepted, so the farm staff, serving staff, and retail staff all got a share. The serving staff and retail staff really put in 110% so they could maximize sales and tips so everyone would be taken care of. I visited there a few times while traveling for work and had friends who worked there, I was always impressed how well of a job the staff did. They were friendly and could upsell anybody anything. The long-term manager got ill and had to leave, and a new manager came in with new ideas like implementing quotas and also decided to donate the tips to his Brothers Christian Ministry. Most of the staff quit, and the business suffered greatly. The manager was fired, but the business never really recovered, and owners were forced to sell. So treat your employees, right? And they will help your business succeed!! It is in the Employees' best interest to keep a business running and profitable only if they are treated well. So fuck those employers who suck.
