Backstory: I have career retail experience in a well known, high volume, very popular boutique/gift store, Corporate Owned, approx 15 years.
2 years ago I quit to pursue a field I was more passionate about, horticultural, daily care of houseplants, not at all retail but customer facing.
Present: I've interviewed for a position as upper management for a locally well known Nursury/plant store/garden center. Family owned and in business for 71 years. I would be one of 5 senior managers with only the general manager and owner above me.
My concerns/questions: I haven't heard great things about family owned businesses and have concerns it will be emotionally tumultuous, Drama filled, and lacking the higher end support.
What are your thoughts on working family owned, positive? Negative? Pros and cons?
Thanks!
