We can all agree times are fucking hard right now. Last month I left my job as a shift manager from a gas station store because my general manager wasn’t satisfied with my performance during training (I promise I worked my ass off and I did everything to meet their expectations). It was bullshit, but I will post a story about it soon.
Anyway, I have been unemployed for a month now. My paychecks was two weeks behind so I got paid for the next two weeks while unemployed, but after that— I started to struggle terribly. Hunting for jobs that fucking pay $15/hr for an assistant manager position? Minimum wage is $11/hr here in Florida. I barely had any money to afford food as all my payments were made for rent and bills. I am in 10k debt and I’m behind on my car payments and struggling to pay my car insurance.
I did find a good opportunity at a fast food/restaurant that opened near my area, so I will be working as a Manager while getting paid properly, working full-time hours, and receiving benefits, along other things. I’m grateful for this because I know the struggle and I had go days without eating. Fortunately, I have a wonderful community that gave me advice— I had a lady donate some of her groceries. I go to food banks. I also donate plasma just to earn some extra cash. I won’t get my first paycheck until the end of September, so I am really hoping to get back on my feet by next month. The stress is killing me.
