I keep my managers at arms length and never engage them unless I absolutely have to. I show up and do my work without speaking a word to them. I got a bad review because they thought I was goofing off. We had a meeting and it turns out they just ASSUMED I was goofing off because they never see me. We “agreed” to be more communicative… but should I? Is faking friendliness towards my boss going to make my work life easier, in your experience?
