My company didn’t give out any raises last year in order to “prepare for inflation.” You know, because only corporations are affected my increased cost of living, right? I was really hoping they’d make up for it this year, but no. I received a 5% raise (which I’m well aware is more than most… that in and of itself is infuriating) that amounted to not even $50 extra per week.
Meanwhile:
- My car insurance doubled
- My renters insurance doubled
- My grocery bills doubled
- It’s twice as much to fill up my tank
This isn’t even including luxuries like streaming services increasing, restaurants including “staff health benefits” charges, etc.
I got a raise. I’m making the most money I ever have in my entire life, and yet I have less money to show for it. The only bright side is I don’t have any children to figure out how to feed. I truly don’t see how people aren’t setting shit on fire left and right.
