Why are boomers so out of touch with how difficult it is for workers who struggle to afford basic living?

Was asked by boomer boss why I (late 20s F) have no kids and no house yet, and not in a joking way. Like I can barely afford rent and basics, how would I afford kids or a house?? So out of touch.
