Why ask what hours I am not available when you ultimately won’t care?

Got a temp Christmas job at a large sports shop. I got hired last week and they asked if I needed any days off. I said I had finals on the 13th and 14th. They made me fill out a sheet saying exactly what specific hours I could work. I said all day on weekends and 9am-6pm on weekdays with a few exceptions (like Friday mornings for my driving lessons). I said it in the interview too that I could only do 9-6 as those are my mum's working hours, she works in the same town. I finally get my roster today after having issues logging into the system. I'm only working one day this week, THURSDAY 14th. I told management specifically that I could not work that date. And it's from 12-7pm also. Now she's not answering my calls. The way managements just disregard your need to HAVE A LIFE, and make you feel like an inconvenience for having doctor's appointments, exams etc and not being available 24/7 really pisses me off
