I've been thinking about this for a while now, and wanted to post this morning, and thought well nahh, not necessary. Now, I'm getting fed up.
My mom (61YO) keeps asking me about having days off, taking days off, pretending to be sick and the like to basically play hookey with her. She does this a lot despite me constantly telling her, 1. I have a set number of PTO per year, 2. Sick days = PTO or I don't get paid, there are no sick days, 3. taking a half day off STILL takes up PTO that I need for events like my wedding this year and the honeymoon (to a place that my fiance and I hope to move to cause fuck this USA hellscape). What are they not getting?? She thinks there are just unlimited PTO days, “sick days” are typical, and none of this might affect my job! She was a manager for years and hated when one of her employees cut their salary and went to 4 days, 32 hours a week schedule. Her firm later let them go, along with another employee who wanted a shorter work week.
Cost of living is up, wages are down, benefits are meager, if any, employers are rabid, and I'm just supposed to “take off” just cause???? I'm getting tired of them not getting how the world fucking works today!
