Why I am Quitting my Attorney Job

I work at a small law firm (7 total employees). I have been at this job for about 3 years and the last 9 months as an attorney since passing the bar. The pay is decent but I am tired of being a dancing monkey for the managing attorney. The managing attorney completely micromanages me and fucks up my cases if I am out of the office- despite me having to fight to get my own caseload, to which we previously agreed. I am tired of him sexually harassing the staff. The tone of the office completely revolves around his day to day mood. If he’s mad at his wife that day we can expect a staff meeting where we all get personally attacked and insulted. He called me a “90 yard quarterback” in front of the whole staff despite me settling more cases and bringing in more revenue this year than him. His ego is so big and fragile everyone gives him relentless ass kissing treatment. The rest of the staff is so scared of him nobody has the nerve to make any decisions on anything despite their need to do so. He called one employee a “bitch” to her face. The boss has a reputation in the field for lacking decorum and being inappropriate with women.

So the managing attorney is on vacation for now and I am planning to put in my two week notice once he returns. While young I have been in this industry for 10 years and have been fortunate to learn from the best in my field at my old job. I have a good network and plan to start my own firm working from home with a virtual office. Scary to take the leap but feeling excited and wanted to share my journey on here. Thanks all.
