i graduated college in 2020. so the job market hasn’t been great ever since i graduated, but i had a decent job in tech until january of this year when unfortunately i was one of the many tech layoffs. i gained a lot of experience, but honestly there wasn’t many positions related to what I had the experience in, especially competing with people with more experience than i do.
i was unemployed for a couple months, then found a job local in something i had limited experience in. i was under-qualified for sure, but it’s an entry level job and i did think i could do it. so i was just let go, honestly not that torn up about it because i wasn’t getting it, they lied about how much traveling it would be, lied about how much overtime there would be (had to work 45 hrs/week salary for two months bc they were so far behind) and i was looking for a new job anyways.
but i guess the reason for my rant is, how am i supposed to get experience if no one will take a chance on me? I have limited job experience mainly bc i have not been apart of the work force as long as everyone else. i had internships in college, i learned a ton at my first job, this most recent one I just did not have any prior experience and it showed. it really just sucks idk. like how am i supposed to get experience? i can take courses and do other certificates but i feel like i’ll still be in the same boat. well wish me luck on finding another job! :’) gonna need it
