Wife being forced to sign demotion contract before returning to work.

Arizona – wife's company blindsided her with a bs misconduct/violation of terms of employment and are essentially forcing her to sign a $4/hr demotion and probation agreement. Wife has declined to sign since this could impact future positions saying she has not violated the terms but company will not fire her, just replies she must sign before returning to work. Since AZ is an *** “at will” state she can be fired for anything at any time but it seems they are forcing her to resign, perhaps to not have to pay unemployment? She was being praised for her work earlier in the day before being called into a meeting. Not sure what we can do? She prefers to be fired and collect unemployment but not sure if she would be disqualified.
