Wife fired because owner couldn’t afford to pay her

My wife was a manager of a bakery for 5 years. Last year she collapsed at work and we found out she had four aneurysms. She was out for a month and came back early because she felt pressured because they were short handed in the holiday season. She had 8 surgeries for it and would have to take time off to recover but was going back too soon. She let the owner know before she step away and was told ok. They don’t pay sick time at this bakery, they get 2 weeks vacation a year and the owner pays 95% of the health insurance cost. So insurance covered all my wife surgeries. The bill in the end was close to a million dollars. This seems like the reason she was really let go. On top of that she’s fighting them for unemployment, since the company out sources the payroll and hr to Oasis. Which the employee handbook is just the generic one Oasis gave them and they were supposed to customize it to fit the company. So the one she has is the generic one and the one they gave to unemployment is now customized saying she was to punch out before calls, even emergency ones. The Owner always saying we a family.
