My wife ‘Caroline’ recently quit her job. She had been working as a speech therapist in a new inpatient rehab unit in a hospital.
Last Tuesday after another day of being ignored by her bosses for help, covering roles outside of her role and feeling that the level of care she is able to provide was sub-par, we agreed that she should quit, Caroline emailed her bosses that she was resigning.
Caroline worked 4 DAYS without her resignation being acknowledged by her bosses, not a “sorry that this didn’t work” or “can we chat? Maybe there is something we could do?” NOTHING. Not from her supervisor, manager or director.
This continues to blow my mind. I work in a corporate space and have left several jobs, some even try to counter offer, some didn’t but all of them at least had an exit interview. Caroline keeps saying “in medicine, it’s different,” I can’t grasp how shitty that is.
