Work hours are from 8 am to 5 pm, but boss wants me to join meetings before and after hours

I work from 8-5, but I have occasional online meetings at 6 am or 7 am, and I take 8 am calls from home before I start commuting to work. These meetings usually consist of 10-20 people, so they’re not small and my boss usually attends them. First of all, I don’t think I need to be in a lot of these since my boss is already in them and most of the time I just join and browse the internet afterwards. I don’t gain anything from it and I already spend 15 hours out of my 40-hour work week in online meetings. My boss thinks that being in online meetings will help me stay updated and I’ll continue learning this way, but that’s not how my brain works and I’m sure he’s aware of it because I’ve mentioned multiple times that I’m a hands-on learner. This pisses me off…

This pisses me off because I can’t find the time to do my actual work during normal work hours and instead I end up doing work outside of work hours to catch up on the time I’ve lost while in meetings throughout the day. My boss doesn’t seem to care that I have to, fine, but I refuse to continue working outside of work hours and whatever result he gets, he will get. For the past couple weeks, I haven’t joined the 6 am meeting I have, and keep in mind it’s 6 am on a Monday so that’s even more difficult, and my micromanager boss has sent me a message on Microsoft Teams each time I didn’t join saying he doesn’t see me in the meeting. Now he wants me to see him in his office to talk to him about it. I have one other person on my team that he doesn’t do this to so he’s obviously picking on me. I’m not scared of being fired because I have no faith in this company and have other plans anyways, so should I let him have it or should I just keep quiet and apologize? I forgot we had this meeting last week and didn’t join and I told him exactly that, but this time I want to stand up for myself.
