Work Week Hours Weird?

Maybe I’m crazy for this, at least have been made to feel so, and it seems very common. For context, I recently tried to quit a demanding, dishonorable, job in an office. In order to stay, my demands were and increase in pay to offset the workload and a change in hours. My previous time was 9-6 and I asked for 9-5 (you know, job hours). Which is to be said, I’ve since quit this job.
