I have several years experience as an accountant. I currently work for a company that is so dysfunctional and toxic that I have been seeking out other employment. Every day I put in 10 or so applications.
I am a single parent and typically don't have any issues reporting to an office for work. The school schedule does not coincide with our work holidays. As in, there are 10 days between now and the end of the year that I will have to take off and I do not have that much PTO. We have 2 accountants at this company that work remotely full time. One was hired before me and the other I trained into AP. Yet this company refuses to allow me to work from home for any reason.
There are other ethical reasons as well. This company actively embezzled money from their customers and even though it's been brought to upper management's attention, they willfully withold refunds, credit memos, overpayment and deposits without reasonable cause. So yeah, I do not want to be a part of that.
So began the job search for a hybrid position. And let me tell you, it's like searching for a ghost. Most of the companies I see on indeed are a scam or misleading about being a hybrid position. Am I not looking in the right place? I feel like I've missed a crucial detail somewhere. I see people posting daily about being a remote worker and it's baffling because I can't seem to find anything.
