Worried About My Paycheck

My workplace is doing a lotta terrible things, not the least of which are largely ignoring a few food safety standards, and not giving legally required meal breaks or pay stubs. But last Friday my boss paid everyone in cash, which is highly unusual since I, at least, have been paid via direct deposit for about half a year. They apparently got paid that paycheck and this last one in cash last Friday, so they’re good, but this feels like it should be a real red flag

One of my coworkers suggested it could be some problem with the bank that hasn’t been resolved, and rather than risk other checks failing, my boss might just be opting to go with cash until whatever it is can be fixed

Does anyone have any insider knowledge of how worried I should be? Is this somewhat normal?
