I’m in my late 30s and have had a ton of random ass jobs in my life. I’ve tried to finish my degree several times over the years but A) undiagnosed AUDHD and diagnosed depression, B) I can never commit to a major lol I have too many interests, and C) life keeps getting in the way. Last time I took a retail management position because I felt the company NEEDED me to step up, and that made it too difficult to finish my last 2.5 semesters.
I currently have a sweet job that I won’t get into, but I work for a family doing something I enjoy. But it’s not a career, and I know eventually it will end.
My major was sociology, which I love, but obviously doesn’t lead to a career (I had a professor say most soc majors from that university go into sales and I was like, dear god no).
I’ve always thought about being a teacher to junior high or high school, in social studies or history. But to teach in public schools I’d need an education background, and to teach in private I’d need at least a history degree probably. I mean maybe I could get a social studies position with a BA in sociology at a private school but I don’t know. Anyway, is it ridiculous to be thinking about this?
I know this post doesn’t really fit here, but I’m curious what other “anti-work” people think lol.
