I’ll try to make this short. My work is 30 minutes away (not that bad of a drive, but that’s not the point). Someone apparently hacked our server over the weekend. Monday, we were not about to log in or use our computers. (There isn’t anything that my job position can do without the computer) so they sent us home at noon. I work 7am – 3:30pm. For Tuesday, my manager told me to not come in until 8 am because that’s when IT would arrive. All day yesterday, no access. Computers still down. I hit my breaking point at 2:00 pm and said I’ll use PTO, I don’t care, I’m getting out of here. They sent everyone home at 3:00. Last night I got a group text from my manager saying we probably won’t have access again today, so do not bother driving into work, but she will text us and keep us updated. It’s already 3 hours into what would be my shift, and my manager texted saying they restored the phones, but not the computers yet. Personally, I don’t feel like I should have to jump up and drive into work the second I’m texting and they FINALLY got our computers back on. Especially if it ends up going past noon. Another thing is, we are ABLE to work from home, but they only want me to do that on Fridays. I believe that at this point, I should not have to drive in, and if anything, I’ll log onto my computer at home and work. Opinions?
