Do you, or would you, spend more money on a purchase to support a company that is ethical and provides great benefits for their employees?
Let’s assume the medium-sized company offers benefits like…
1) Above industry-average pay
2) Ethical executive pay of 20:1 CEO to worker pay ratio (in 2022, this was 272:1)
3) 4 day work week (32 hours total)
4) 2 week company holiday in the summer
5) Additional 25 days PTO
6) Parental leave of 6 months for both parents
As for the product you’re buying, assume the quality is the same as other alternatives. Would you spend an extra 10-20% to buy from the company that provides for their employees more? Or do you simply go with the lowest price to save money?
Does anyone have any good examples of companies like this, or where to find the good ones out there?
In the midst of late stage capitalism, there have to be some good companies that we can support. The hope is it brings them positive attention and can force other companies to raise their standards.
I believe there’s got to be something we can do to bring change. Any other ideas?
