I’m pretty certain my boss thinks he laid me off when a bunch of other coworkers were laid off 1 & 2 months ago. None of the work I do is visible to him or his bosses, we don’t clock in/out, and I’m rapidly running out of useful tasks. I have a cruise coming up in mid-October, which I would’ve submitted to our PTO system already, but I was waiting to be laid off and now it feels a bit late. Usually, he approves PTO after the fact, when that time period’s payroll comes around. If I put in the request now, I fear he’ll see I’m still here and immediately let me go. With my luck, if I say nothing, I’ll come back to missed messages and be fired instead of laid off with severance. Maybe this will be a moot point and someone will respond to one of the hundreds of applications I’ve sent out, buuut… What would you do?
