You have a second job and need a set schedule? Bye bye

So I was working for this company for almost a year, from the time I was hired to my firing I was never told even an average for what time I would expect to get off. I was fine with that at first because I needed the hours. Well fall time hits and the hours are getting shorter and I averaged about 1900 a paycheck and it started averaging 1300 a paycheck. So I take on a second job to make up the difference in income. Now a newer manager (cycled through a few by the time my last one came around) comes and things start finally looking good. Maintenance finally starts working on our equipment we told them about months ago. Things with other departments start getting organized and problems worked out. Now comes the part where hours are starting to come back but not frequent enough to warrant…

Now comes the part where hours are starting to come back but not frequent enough to warrant quitting my other job. Also working both jobs I started making more than when my first job was giving tons of overtime. But then my manager starts bringing up that my coworkers are annoyed that I’m getting off around 2 everyday (6am-2pm) and that they want help finishing their jobs (we all have equal work loads according to management, but one team is CONSTANTLY getting off at 7pm everyday), I bring up that 1) I have a second job that I go to everyday and 2) we have the same work load so idk how they are taking an extra 5 hours to complete their work, “why do I have to finish their jobs for them?” Manager gets defensive and claims a bunch of nonsense that doesn’t add up. Eventually it boils to the point where he has two big things to bring up in a meeting. 1) no more getting off at 4 because other people need help (I told him 4 was my cut off) 2) he wants the team to create a mission statement “like chick-fil-a” and if we don’t like that idea he can look for other workers. At this point I had two job injuries and was still feeling over worked from last summer, I had enough with this company for many more reasons than just these issues. But then came the boiling point. It’s 3:00 and my coworker and I are finishing up our last job. Managers texts us about to other things that need to be delivered, I let him know it’s way to late for me to deliver those two parts and get back in time to clock out for my next job. Manager immediately sends a passive aggressive text about “if you want the other drivers working till 6:30-7 that’s on you. This is what sets you two apart from the other teams, that you guys care for yourself and not the team.” I didn’t bother responding and figured I talk to him about it when I get back. Well long story not so short, I let him know that yeah I am looking out for myself, I have a second job for a reason, and that I need to be out at a certain time, you already told me it was okay, and that I’m not asking for permission I’m telling you in off at 4. Also I don’t care what my coworkers think of me, I don’t care about a mission statement, I’m here to do my job and do it right , and go home. He followed that up with well I guess I need to find a new driver then. No wonder they have such a high turnover rate.
