Today I found out I'm likely the lowest paid employee at my work. I've been there for almost 5 years and new people are starting at a higher pay than me. I have no idea how to deal with this. I can't quit because I struggle to even find a new place to get hired at due to my Autism/Asperger Syndrome. My work does have a union, but I don't know if they'd even bother with me. I like the job, I like the hours, I like my coworkers, but I feel like I have been taken advantage of here. I have worked extra during the holidays thanks to losing a coworker they have yet to replace, but I stopped doing that last month mainly due to stress and wearing my body out. No one even noticed except for the two people I work closely with. I'm also supposed to…
Month: March 2022
Got fired for my job last week
I was fired for the first time in my life Throwaway account just in case. Also on mobile so I apologize for the formatting! I was fired from my job on Wednesday. I didn’t see it coming at all. I’ve worked for this restaurant for two years, literally helped them open the place, and was fired without warning for missing a “mandatory meeting”. Now, just for a little background, it’s a brunch spot with a full espresso bar and boozy bar. I was the barista lead, in charge of ordering and holding it down (for a measly $12 an hour I might add). The spot was open Wed-Sun and this particular incident happened after close on Sunday. At 2:30 pm (on Sunday) I was made aware of a meeting after the shift, we closed at 3 o’clock. I immediately let the general manager know I probably wouldn’t be able to…
20 year benefits.
A close friend worked at a local hospital which had limited parking on site. Most of the employees parked off site and took a shuttle bus. Employees who had been employed for twenty years got parking passes to park on site. About six month after my friend had been there twenty years she went to HR and asked how come I have not gotten a parking pass. HR told her it's because we done have any available. She then pointed out there are many people who work in administration who have been here less than twenty years have passes. HR told here “thats because people in administration work harder. ” She quit on the spot.
Ever called the Rite-Aid pharmacy?
It makes me want to boycott them. Before you can refill a prescription or talk to anyone, you have to listen to their CEO blather on for 5 minutes about the “labor shortage” and the “loyal employees” who show up to work. It literally makes me sick. Rite Aid and CVS were INFAMOUS for exploiting their pharmacists way before the pandemic happened. Unfairly low pay, low hours, really bad management, covering in stores far away, all that crap, to the point it is viewed as the hell you have to get through so you can get a half-decent pharmacy job later when you have experience. And now we have to listen to their CEO whining for a few minutes before we can do business with them. What is wrong with these people!?
Me, (~30, M) worked for a company for 2 years as a salesman. Before signing the contract, I was promised a salary of 5,000 $/month. When I received the contract it said 4,000$/month and when I asked the boss (~50, F) the response I got was 'yeah we haven't found a good system for the variable part of your salary but don't worry we will fix that soon.' I was kinda desperate so I signed. So I started and thought to my self 'I need to prove my worth, then they'll raise my salary!'. Worked extremely hard, had 10-15 min lunches per day or some days no lunch at all. On a normal day I did the job of 2 people. After a year we discuss a raise. Im thinking that now the boss will probably offer me the 5,000$ and then some to compensate for the year that has…
Don’t stop seeking better employment
For two years I was the head merchandiser for a Town Pump gas station in Montana. I always pulled a 37 – 40 hour week because even after two annual raises that I had to fight my boss to even process, I was only making $11.80 an hour. This job entailed quite a bit of labor and effort. In one Sunday through Thursday work week, I'd order all the store's sellable products, put that supply away when the truck brought it all, checked in vendors who supplied their own products, maintained par levels of every tobacco product, kept the store organized and looking nice by rotating product displays. The labor isn't necessarily my complaint, as I am not the kind of worker who likes to sit at a desk. My issues came from the work environment itself. The first big issue came after I was promoted to the merchandising position.…
Just a quick rant: I work in finance and recently moved roles within my company, same job title, different department. Month end is always a cluster fuck for most finance professionals but when you’re still trying to learn it feels like you don’t have a clue what’s going on. So anyway the other day I worked 12 hours straight 8am to 8pm to ensure all my responsibilities were boxed off . I barely ate all day, I was away from my desk for maximum of 10 minutes the whole day, and what do I have to show for it? Absolutely jack shit. No thanks for working over, no offer to take back time in Leui. And to top it off I get an email to say my previous manager has been nominated for colleague of the month for process improvements which I implemented! Fuck this company.
I work as a line cook in student pub. One of the dishes is a fried chicken sandwich made with a flattened half chicken breast marinated in buttermilk and coated in seasoned flour. An order came up and I fried the thing but it had been smashed hard and still had long stringy bits of chicken attached. All these extra tentacle bits I cut off so it didn't look like an octopus hanging out of the sandwich. I put the extra tentacle bits in a bowl and told a server to help herself because they couldn't be used. Kitchen manager came in and asked what these bits of chicken were so I told her the story. Next shift in I get pulled into the office signing a disciplinary for insubordination and tampering with recipes. Next time should I send it out as is and wait for the complaint?… r/maliciouscompliance
