I’d like to share my quitting story.

I worked at PetSmart part time as a stocker, but was expected to learn the register and everything in between. I never complained and just did my job. On multiple days I would have to stay later than expected because they “forgot” to put a cashier on the schedule and I would be at work from 3am to 3pm. Sometimes I’d get ask to stay and help until close so I’d be there until 9pm or 12am if we were doing the facing and put backs. I put in 85 hours in one week being part time who he as 40 extra hours than my manager. One day my grandmother fell and hurt herself so I took her to the hospital and wasn’t able to cover a shift because I was staying with her. I was called a “non team player” and told “we will talk about availability in the…

I told management to not schedule me due to surgery. I got scheduled anyways

So I had to get surgery for my wisdom teeth on Friday and I told management about this on Tuesday of the week BEFORE the surgery which is more than enough time to cover my shift. I have to include that of course, that week shifts were not going to be a problem at all. So here is when Brony (the manager in charge of servers) enters, he is the server manager and I went straight up to him to inform him that I would be unavailable, he tells me to remind him the next day, next day comes and I remind him again and I can tell he is bothered by this by his reaction. He asks me which days I need and I go “Friday, Saturday, and Sunday” and then he asks me “But if the surgery only takes one day why do you need more” which I…

I went on an interview and when I got there, they told me there was a mix up & they didn’t have the position available.

I applied to a position and I was called for an interview. After about 10 minutes of talking, they said “ohhh, there was a mix up on our behalf! We actually do not have that position available at this location but standing here… talking to you… I think you’d be REALLY good at this position!” Then offered me a position as to which I have no clue about and it was not something I wanted to do! They obviously saw the disappointment on my face so they said “…after 1 year, we give our employees $25 gift certificate for our appreciation and a T-shirt with your name on it!” What the fuck? What a joke. This is a small company with maybe 3-4 positions in the entire office. There’s no way there was a mix up. They’re so shady and they wasted my damn time. Why would they do this?…

freedom

I'm so tired of being a wage slave. I just want to be free. Not everyone can succeed in capitalism, it doesn't work that way. I just want to be free. I want my kids to be free. I worry everyday about their future. I worry everyday about my future. I just want freedom. I would give up all the creature comforts, all the distractions, all the tools I use to numb myself for real freedom. For a real chance to control my own destiny. Not to waste away slaving for other people to live the good life because they had a better outcome in the birth lottery. Even if you give up everything else and focus only on work and school there is no guarantee you'll succeed in this system. How can we free ourselves from this facade. How do we free ourselves from the American dream?

Part time Temp/low pay and no benefit employer is now really mad that I am quitting.

So story time….during the early part of 2020 when everything went to hell I had just started going to school to get Associate's degrees in the IT field. Seven years of retail management had made me suicidal (I legit still have nightmares about working at Walgreens and I quit there in September of 2019) and I realized it was either “get out or die”. And as part of my studies and with the pandemic my community college moved a lot of classes to remote, as many others did. However the IT staff at the college didn't want to service all the student tickets (forgot password, how to set up, how to install X, “it don't work”, etc) little things that are part of working IT (to be fair they are busy keeping the staff computers up and running and still had to service the buildings with their various problems) so…

It Should Be Illegal for Employers to Be Able to Pay Minors Less Because of Their Age

Seriously, why is a minor worker so undervalued? Some of the hardest, most dedicated workers I've had the pleasure of managing have been minors. To find out they are paid less by past employers just because the state says they can is asinine. I'm looking at you Michigan.
