Month: March 2022
This is the most ridiculous shit I have seen. I want part time work while I take online classes and half of the positions shown for part time on Indeed are just full-time positions advertising on multiple parts of the website. Report them. I just saw one that advertised $15 an hour, then in the description listed that they only pay $10 an hour, but cover “mileage reimbursement, travel time, tips, and bonus holiday pay which adds up to at least $15 an hour.” It also has a non-cemented schedule, no holiday breaks, and requires you to pay for your own criminal background check. I am flabbergasted at the sheer audacity of the owner of the “company” to advertise dumb shit like that. Whenever I have ever worked in any position like these, you are not getting $15 an hour like advertised, you are being promised the idea that you'll…
So I work at a hometown local grocery store. Been in business for 73yrs. I got hired March of 2021. Back in March of 2020 I had booked a vacation to a convention in Austin TX. Of course it got canceled due to covid. Convention gets rolled over to this year. Passes are paid for, hotel is booked, flight is booked. But I'm being told I can't go to the trip being it's during the 4th of July weekend. Which are “red days” meaning all staff has to be available to work. I had no idea that the convention was going to reschedule for the most busy time at the store. But I booked this trip well before I worked here. I d o like my job. But I don't think I should be punished for wanting to go to something I spent money on 2yrs ago. I rarely travel,…
Manager in Training is Fools Gold
The following is a review I wrote after having worked MIT at a local Subway. More to it than what's written here, but it's got the spark notes. TL:DR Manager doesn't train his employees. Gets angry with employees for not following their training. 1.0 Zero Stars (if I could) Manager in Training (MIT) (Former Employee), Logan, UT – March 27, 2022 One of THE WORST job experiences I've ever had. I was hired on as MIT (manager-in-training) and found out very quickly, I would not be receiving “training”. The GM handed me off to his Assistant Manager to train me my first day. The Assistant manager said all of four words to me that day.. my first day. Even less was communicated to me the following few days. Of course, having recieved next to no training, I made a couple mistakes doing prep work. On my fourth day (of training) I unfortunately had to…
3 sick days a year no rollover
My boss sent us a message in the group chat saying we only get three days off per year. He also stated that if not used they won’t rollover to the following year. I’m pretty sure this is not okay but idk. Honestly the company I work for does some really sketchy stuff should I speak up??
Labor theft.
Fast food was one of my first jobs. My friend was a shift manager and told me he caught the assistant manager deleting my already- worked-hours from payroll to lower payroll costs. He asked her what she was doing and said she told him she was just making corrections to my time card so I get paid for all the time I worked. But he knew I worked all those hours because we usually worked together. I confronted her the next day and she said she goes through everyone’s payroll when she does labor costs. He knew what she was doing and she just denied it. From then on I saved every print out from my clock in/out event.
Mother’s Day Gift
As my mother continues to throw out the “nobody wants to work since they can be paid for sitting on their butts” crap, I'm putting together a nice gift for Mother's Day. Since I'm receiving unemployment, I will start with a copy of my last paycheck at my former employer and my latest unemployment check. Unemployment is roughly an 80 percent pay cut. Yes, I used to make what I make in a week off of unemployment in a day. Having to keep records of applying for jobs for said unemployment, I am also printing off each email acknowledging my application and any rejection correspondence I receive. Note: I receive email correspondence on 1 out of 10 or so applications – no one has offered an interview in months. I am tired of the “nobody wants to work” crap when no one seems to be hiring. I've applied for jobs…
