I work overnight/graveyard at a homeless youth shelter. It’s a mess here for a lot of reasons, most of them management related. We can’t keep a staff and there’s always some scandal at our main office. I’ve been keeping my head down working for 16/hr$ with a BS in psych and human services because I need the experience to move forward. A case management job came up and I hopefully applied. I’m more than qualified and do great work because I love these kids. Also, i only have 3 coworkers…I found out that today that the job was given to one of my coworkers that didn’t even apply. They have no degree, no more experience, it’s just favoritism. More than that I never even got an email acknowledging my application. No interview. No feedback. Just surprise we didn’t even think of you! Last straw I’m done with this place

I applied to a company who on their website quote something along the lines of “our office is so much fun, it's just like home, but better”. This was already a red flag tbh, but the job sounded really interesting and challenging, so I thought, let's just give it a go. They also liked me so I was offered a permanent contract, but during the contract talk they told me they “love spending time together”. Besides shared lunches they have Friday drinks, which are, well not mandatory, but you'd be strongly urged to be there. The same goes for their quarterly after work “team building fun activities”, and their workations where they all travel to some destination just to work together. Also they require me to come into the office full time, while the team I'm working with is a remote team on the other side of the world, so…

(Early 20's, M, Casual Worker) Worked for this company for 5-6 years, recently forced into new morning position when I used to work evenings. I hate it and told them I would like to go back for many personal and general reasons, which they declined 3 different times. I got into work for the pre work talk with everyone, and the boss said that everyone was working great recently, except one worker (me). Other workers knew he was talking about me. 45 mins later, 7 workers including me got called into the back, where I was then called out in front of everyone about how bad I was doing. Then he blamed me for the mess in the back that I didn't make, which is just great. Was very awkward walking out of there with the others that I barely know. Honestly almost cried there, but my pit stains spoke…
