They already refused the harassment restraining order once but because the employer requested a hearing, I have to attend or I automatically lose. I have a clean record and this would destroy my life. The same employer fired me so I am currently going through the job search process. I have no doubt the case will be thrown out because I didn’t do what the employer is saying. But my fear is—will this show up on the background check for any jobs I am currently applying to prior to the hearing date? Also, is there anyone I can report this employer to for what is essentially defamation of character that does not involve hiring a private attorney? I am in the United States. Any help is hugely appreciated.

I’ve had people shove me, threaten me, punch me, grown men try to fight me. I am not sure what to do or who to talk to at this point. I am not aggressive and in fact have extreme anxiety due to this.
Am I Selling Myself Short?
I'm nearing 50 years old, some health problems, but I have nearly twenty years in the construction industry. I've managed projects from $10k to $20M. I've never been one to rock the boat, been content with my 3.5% COL raises. I can't help but feel I'm selling myself short. I outork my help, just to get the job done, but I pull down less than $75k/yr. Bonuses are $5k or less per year. If I leave, I face being on the road for better pay, but time away from home. Now I realize why I tell the young people in my crews to gtfo of this business.
WFH contributes to racism?
Ok, this is new for me. My office has been out of the building since covid, and then a renovation has extended WFH. Each month we attend an all HR meeting (yes, I’m HR) and every meeting focuses on equity and diversity. This week the presenter announces that studies have shown that employees that work from home are more likely to be biased because they are not exposed to different people. Being the person I am, I immediately emailed the presenter and asked for a link to this study. Total silence. Has anyone seen a study like this? I’ve been unable to find anything close to what he talked about. FYI, and I am pro-employee and pro-wfh. I know there’s a lot of hate for HR over here.
this little pink bih is pissing me off!
Spent the day talking to my coworkers and finding that they are mostly all just as pissed and fed up with the same issues as me, I knew it but the filters were off today. Company is experiencing a mass exodus of their top talent. Let ‘em burn.
Today was the last day of my job and I found out about the business that is disgusting. My best friend works there and found out through the manager of the wedding department. The department manager was having a meeting with one of the owners and saw some disturbing paperwork on the owner's desk. The meeting that they were having was about how hard it was to find another assistant for this manager. During this meeting she saw some paperwork on her desk that graphed the wages for the roles within the company. The paper showed that the owners and managers at the top were paying themselves $40+/hr. These owners refuse to pay the people who work underneath them a living wage. I asked for a raise and was told that “sometimes you have to work 2 jobs to get by.” This company has been doing shady shit for a…
Think about it. He's a rich white male and basically the Republican ideal. Like the perfect Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk. But also his family actually cares about people and takes for the homeless and feed people and believes in spending money to help people. So he's also the Democratic ideal. But in reality either way he's just a representation of capitalism. No matter who watches it they think Batman is like them and that I could be like him which means I also have to believe in capitalism. Am I going crazy here? Does this make too much sense? Tell me this.
