How unfairly am I being treated?
Throwaway account. It's my first job so I don't have much reference for the 'real world'. Is this normal or part of the corporate world? Any advice/support is greatly appreciated. 1) Have had to take on responsibilities of the senior people who have left (aka no real mentoring besides catch-up within their two weeks). 2) No indication of when there will be new hires despite a long stretch of little guidance. 3) Consistently having sleepless nights from crying and becoming increasingly sicker from the stress when I have a strong immune system. 4) General feeling of abandonment, hopelessness, and inferiority as I have no control over how I'm treated as I'm not part of the hiring process. Being direct made it worse. 5) Remorse for not picking up on the red flags sooner because I was naive things would be better. They have not. 6) Self-care, venting, etc. don't ease…
I want to quit my job TODAY
Hi, I 20M am living with my parents on a gap semester from college currently. I’m working at Dominos pizza, and the job is killing my mental health. I have not seen my parents or brothers since Monday, and most weeks go days without seeing anyone but customer and coworker. My schedule is thrown off because I am a morning person and being scheduled to close multiple times a week leaves me constantly sleepy. What really makes me want to leave though is I asked for Saturday off this weekend because I have a friend’s birthday at 1, and am driving 3 hours to see my boyfriend. I havent seen him in a month because I had to move back for my gap sem. I explained this and the owner called the store to tell me I couldn’t have it off. Keep in mind I was there 3:30-close and 3:00-close…
Boss Newbie Questions
I founded my own IT company a few years ago and will soon get my first employee. Although I have worked with a number of bad managers/bosses before, I know I have often too large an ego and of course make mistakes on my way of improvement. Since I am only a “boss” in a very limited capacity this is a special case – but as it looks this might change in the following years. I do sincerely want to have content workers that are paid well, are treated with respect and can go home on time (or are compensated adequately otherwise). I would appreciate any comments – what wrong character traits should I keep in check to not become one of those a**hats in a few years? Edit: Spelling
Advice for a young soon to be manager?
Hey all! I’ve recently got a Great job at a locally owned store. They pay great for the area AND for being a small business. As a sales associate I’m making $15 an hour. I’ve been here for a little less than six months and they will soon be making me manager! Woo! (Sounds sus but they’ve had an opening due to their last manager being anti vax and I was hired with the expectation to soon become manager) Anyway. I’m going to be bumped up to assistant manager next week (the owner is acting manager as of rn) And once I’m trained in I’ll be manager. How much should I ask for? I was going to say $18 for assistant manager and then $20 once I’m a full time manager. Google says that’s average for most managers. I’m going to be working 4-5 days a week. Is that a…
Mileage reimbursement rates
If you have to drive for your company and the company pays per mile below the IRS baseline amount used on tax returns you work for a shitty company and should look for other employment. It’s not a law companies need to follow but most do. 2022 IRS guidelines 58.5c per mile.
