How do companies have you get injured at work and force you to use PTO? Whack.

This is the second job I’ve worked at that I’ve gotten hurt/sick from my hospital and was forced to use PTO. Last year, I was bit while doing clinical work and sent to the ER. That was covered. But, for two weeks after I couldn’t eat, was vomiting, had diarrhea. They couldn’t prove the bite was related, so they forced me to use the little PTO I had (and also counted it as an unscheduled absence, lol). Today, I ate at my hospital cafe and promptly got food poisoning. I’m a contract employee and this isn’t the first wild thing I’ve been forced to use my PTO on (see: my house burning down). Getting food poisoning at the hospital is its own level of irony, but how would I have even prevented this “injury/illness”? Anyways, capitalism is a trap and we are in hell.

I am gonna get fired tomorrow (contract not renewed)

Hi, All signs are there I am not gonna get another contract. I am totally ZEN about that let's summarize; I am a team lead in a IT company It started as big lines motivate teach and grow It went to Micromanagement…. Blame culture Avoiding all training (cheap out with bull shite reasons) Basically a total different job then what I applied for. So tomorrow I will just go to work and be ZEN ! Because I know the next job is gonna be so much better ! Helping staff to grow instead of pulling them down with micromanagement bull shit and blaming shit on them. I was positive at first but became to hate the job it turned into. So I'm getting fired and I LIKE IT ! : D Note that it helps that I have a buffer and no debt and own…

GOTEMMMMM

You spent $500k-$1m to buy a 10-year lease on a bakery business model where the franchiser takes 9% off the top in royalties, forces you to pay them $27,500/yr if you have ZERO revenues… and yet, according to representations, you should have $300k with which to raise pay. pic.twitter.com/rfNNLyfdAH— John Thornton (@JohnT15) April 11, 2022

Consult with FTE contract help!

TLDR; what in a job contract would not allow me to do a 1099 and the W2 job? Need specifics to look through my contract. I am noticing I have a skill set that would allow me to consult but I have always devoted my time to whatever company I am W2 at. I want to actually start an LLC and try out consulting but won’t be able to stop my FTE due to needing the income stable. Although the last couple years I feel like I am losing out on money because I work 60 hours for one company and all my friends have 1 plus a side job. I tried for one company 3 years ago and the managers were not pleased with me even asking. They basically said no. Is there anything specific in my FTE contract that would hold me to not being able to do…

Company claims they do not give raises.

Hi all, so my wife started working for a health insurance company back in August or so. Started off at $20.25 Hr. She was supposed to get a performance review last month but they said they won’t be doing it for new hires. So she found out that she was getting paid less then the people around her even though she is doing more work then some. Who are getting paid 7K more. While initially this was okay because she was inexperience She is constantly being praised on her work performance. Ability to learn and and get everything done. Out performing the peope who apparently have so much more experience in essentially all aspects. So she requested a meeting with her manager to ask for raise. In which she was informed that the company does not do raises. That is her managers 25 years has not seen a single person…

I had a breakdown at work today

I'm not really sure why I'm sharing this, but I think this is fastest way to get out of my chest this weird feeling. I'm 28yo, designer and publicist for a local store in a city of my third world country, the pay isn't that bad, but definitely should be better. As I said, my job it's to design, but since the start of the pandemic slowly but surely my workload has been increasing. Nowadays I even cover part of my manager work and I haven't seen any rise in my payments. Today was enough, or at least my body said that, my boss asked me a small task, nothing too hard, but definitely something that I have never done before and I knew that if I did it once, it will be part of my job from now on. I waited to be alone, and just slammed my office…

Just need to vent because fuck this shit

Currently we have entitled, slave-driver, business owners who scream into the void about laziness and bitching about a “labor shortage” because their shit business is being bucked off the backs of people who are finally fed up with not being able to make a living wage or even be treated as fucking human beings…. but meanwhile, my spouse has seen nothing but rejection letter after rejection letter. Even the shittiest of the shit throw away jobs have turned their noses up. “Obviously that's their fault” right? What are they doing wrong?! Let's see – they have a lengthy work history of working up from entry level into assistant manager, full manager, operations manager, and ending in assistant general manager. No firings, no insubordination, no bad references. So what happened? Oh. What's this gap in employment? Oh shit, you had a KID?!? You need us to be compassionate towards having to…

Can I ask a recruiter about a a drug test?

I have recently accepted an internship for a finance and accounting job. The onboarding process starts on the 23rd, and my start date is May 23rd. I have looked up about this company and the general consensus is that they drug test, but I'm not sure if its the same for interns or if the policy has changed. I smoked basically a small amount daily from January up until April 2nd. So I figure if there is a test it'll be sometime in May which I think 30 days is enough to be clean. I have QuickFix as a backup, but that is worst case. I wouldn't be working directly with this recruiter when I start working, and we've had a generally positive interaction up until now. Would it be appropriate to inquire about a drug test? Like, they've already offered me this position, and I've accepted. However, I haven't…
