Healthcare is hard
I work in a bigger city at a well known hospital on a surgical post operative floor. We are swamped, all the time. We are always short staffed. The hospital has been giving us incentive pay if we pick up shifts, but I’m exhausted. I absolutely love my job and I wouldn’t want to do anything else, but since the pandemic it’s been so hard. Sorry about venting
Basically I found out the sports team I worked for did a lot of shady stuff. Example: they used donations made to their nonprofit to buy tickets and give them to people. Also used a large donation from the team owner's family foundation to pay a worker that sorta kinda 'ran' the 501c but she mostly worked on corporate partnerships. Where to report?
I suppose this is pretty mild all things considered but thought I’d share anyway. So as interviews often go, at the tail end they turn the tables and ask if you have any questions for them. After I asked the usual I finished up with: “Do you have any concerns about me or my abilities to successfully meet the requirements of this role?” Interviewer hit me with: “Nothing on paper.” Implying that over the course of the interview he developed concerns about me due to my answers rather than my resume, experience, or actual abilities. Feels bad man.
This just happened to my mom and I'm looking for advice. So my mom just found out Friday, 4/8 that she was being fired for not meeting “performance expectations” prior to the 90 probation. She was working for a particular doctor on 4/5 that blew up at her over something minor. On Friday, they gave her a letter that was dated 4/5 saying she was being terminated that day but didn't receive it till 4/8. My moms probationary period was over on 4/10 and she was supposed to receive her additional $250 sign on bonus. My mom has had great reviews and feed back from the other doctors so this has come as a complete surprise. I'm having her file unemployment but I just found this insanely suspicious. They did not give her final check and are issuing it via direct deposit. Any advice?
I feel sick. I got the news when I saw my phone during my shift break. Was trying to process it all and didn’t realise I was 5 minutes late back to the floor. Supervisor burst it and asked what I’m doing. Tears in my eyes I tell her what happened, I can’t go back out there. Screamed at me that I’ll be terminated if I don’t. State of grogginess whilst scanning items through the til. Coworkers telling me to hurry up. Worst shift yet.
