Names changed. First post. On mobile so sorry. TLDR at bottom. Info: So back in July my office hired a new doctor for 2 days a week. Each doctor has 2 dedicated assistants and is supposed to have 1 floater to do evaluations, help with room turnover, and so we can take lunch. Monday and Tuesday only 2 doctors work. Those days I float one day, Ann floats the other, and Liz floats 10-3 to cover lunches. If the schedule is packed we will all 3 float. Wednesday and Thursday (for about 6 months now) Ann has been the only floater that day between the 3 doctors as Liz and I are the new doctors main assistants. The 2 other doctors refuse to lighten their schedule. One girl even had to move her sons surgery (non emergency but still) a few months ago because multiple people were out but the…

Advice on the WFH conundrum
My workplace has integrated a hybrid working schedule where we do some days in the office and some from home. A set number of these days are mandatory in office. However, I've noticed a disturbing trend where some senior team members just flat out ignore this instead picking and choosing when they show up to the office. I had a health concern a short while ago which meant I had to take time off so I asked my manager if I could work from home and it was a right hassle getting him to agree to it. Fast forward to today and I'm the only one present in the office so I decided to go home in my lunch break. Should I feel bad?
Twitter for all its faults is one of the best platforms to organize. With Elon Musk buying twitter he can eliminate any union organizing efforts by just having any posts about unions get shit exposure. It's called a soft censorship where your account is visible and you're not violating twitter's policies but your message won't get the outreach you need. We can see both Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk are trying to get ahead of the new union movement by killing the platforms we use to organize.
How do I get the most out of my job?
I’m getting fired, but I’m not exactly sure when. I work for pest control. I have my own truck and work very independently. I noticed an ad on indeed for my job. Since another employee is not needed I’m forced to assume it’s a replacement for myself. I predict they will hire him in secret, train him for a couple weeks, then give him my job. I just want to ask if/when you guys think I should start stealing from them? Gas is super expensive but I have a free gas card. I want to start using it on my personal truck but I don’t know if it will affect my two weeks paid off time once they surprise fire me. Can they fire me without notice or pay in leu of notice if I use the gas card on my personal truck? Do you think they’d catch me/even care?…
So, this has never happened to me before. I started a new job few months ago and I honestly hate this job so badly I dream of quitting everyday. I sent an email on Thursday and requested to leave an hour and half early on Friday. I had a family emergency to attend to. My managers who approve the time one was out sick and the other was on vacation. There’s another manager covering and he never responded to my email. I even emailed another manager and they also didn’t respond. The next day I left a 2. Today I get email sent to me from the manager who was out sick that who approved my time. I told her I emailed everyone and no one responded and I had to take a family member to chemo. At this point I didn’t even care if I get written up. This…
I work for a local retail business in a small town where I live. Under normal circumstances we normally have a team of 5 staff members, sometimes even 6 on certain days. Yesterday (Sunday) I was notified by a co-worker that 3 staff members have tested positive, which includes my boss. Another employee is on annual leave, this means 4 staff are out of action, leaving myself and one other worker left. Essentially, we'd be running the store. Taking deliveries, phone calls, helping customers. Everything. I called my boss after I was told the above, to see if he knew of the situation. He did. After he explained how tomorrow (today's work day) would play out, I straight up asked him what the pay rate was. I can't remember his exact response, but he did sound surprised. I said that I think it's unfair for us 2 workers to do…
“Even though it shouldn't need to be discussed, your work from home days start at 8:30 sharp everyday.” Sounds reasonable, right? Well my wife has been home with Covid and it was hitting her pretty hard. Obviously she woke up late, and to that email from her boss. I told her explicitly to that she should tell him that her working at all is a courtesy, and he should be happy that she was doing it. But she's timid and doesn't do conflict. I was pissed. Today is day six of her having Covid and she is clearly not better. Her boss still wants her to come into the office, even though her whole job can be done from home without any disruptions. A lot of her coworkers are in the at risk category, even for omicron. One is at work while recovering from spine surgery… I just don't understand…
This last job I had has really affected my self esteem. It may sound stupid, but I'm autistic and I struggle in lots of different work environments. I thought I was doing well, learning the ropes ect. Then I got fired. They hired me cheap back in November. I let them pay me well under market average because this was a new skill set of mine and I knew I'd need at least 12 months of training to be where I needed to be. I was really honest about that in the interview, said my experience is in a related side of the industry, I have minimal experience in the role they wanted. Seemed really excited to hire me, brought me on, and said 1st priority was getting me settled in, then we'd do training. As soon as I walked in I had lots of ideas and my manager was…
I usually work 10hr M-T. Sunday nights are absolutely awful for me. This morning I woke up at 3am and pretty much stayed awake until my alarm went off at 6. Just laying there stressing about all the bs I’m going to have to deal with today. It’s a struggle for me to want to get out of bed.
