I don’t want to post in any job-related subreddits bc I’d like advice from people w similar views on work as me so sorry if this doesn’t fit. I was working full time (at various places) from March 2021 until March of this year as a microbiologist/lab tech/analyst (whatever you want to say lol). Im definitely qualified to do the work but I’m not getting calls back for interviews after my initial calls w recruiters (feels like every business is using them in my area). So the only thing I can think of why I’m not getting actual interviews is a pattern of job hopping and unemployment. It’s like the recruiters see my resume and see my skills but companies won’t take it further bc I’ve shown I’m “unreliable”. Personally I just don’t put up w their bullshit and I don’t feel I need to prove my loyalty to any…

Went through some interviews for a senior role at a small company. Reached job offer stage, negotiating with the founder (50s M). I (30s F) am currently in a job I'm happy with — as I told them when they approached me — so will only join for the right financial offer. He'd already told me he thinks I'm asking for too much money and have shown “poor negotiation skills” by expressing unrealistic expectations. But he's still keen. This meeting is officially to sit down, talk through a revised/improved offer and job spec. I figure – why not hear him out. I turn up on time at 1pm sharp. He says he's got to hop on a video call (???), so how about I pop out and pick up a takeout lunch for both of us. He hands me his card to pay with. I go grab a couple of…
Seriously! Do you people understand that our ancestors already fought for, and won, better treatment, wages, and working conditions? That was back in the 1930's. Then later generations got complacent, and it was slowly taken away. The two biggest hits to what they fought for was the Reagan era labor policies, and lack of action to save the steel industry, then the precedence that NAFTA set telling US employers it's okay to send our jobs to labor markets with lower wages and less rights, that our wages and rights can't compete with. https://www.epi.org/blog/naftas-impact-workers/ So what makes you people think it would be any different? Humans commonly repeat history sadly. So why do you think that keeping the current broken system in place, while getting better wages etc, would fix anything? What makes you think that the elite won't come in and erase everything you've fought for when future generations become…

My wife has FMLA for a chronic condition. Her supervisor went to send her the remaining hours for this FMLA period and accidentally sent it to the ENTIRE team. Now I belive its just in regards to her remaining time, but it's still embarrassing and she feels ashamed already as it is since her condition makes paying bills a nightmare. Now this is the same company that FORCED her to use up all her PTO on the FMLA and recently wrote her up for losing her voice when we all got sick two weeks ago.. for not having PTO… She works at a call center…. She begged them to give her other duties for a day or two while she recovered. The manager acknowledged that her voice sounded terrible. They still refused, even though they're always backed up on the non-call related work anyway, and my wife, when given the…

Today my manager quit
I have changed a few details to avoid anyone knowing my identity and my managers on here. Ok so my manager was the nicest manager you would meet very friendly and approachable always happy with your progress no matter how small and today they just up and quit sad but everyone knew the top bosses were pressuring my boss to perform to a higher standard on barely enough staff. She was constantly berated by managers for not completing specific tasks and despite that they always came to work on time always came with a large smile on their face and made everyone else's day a good day. Now they quit and we're all waiting on the shitstorm that is management to blame us, yay teamwork.
