Combined lobbyist spending as of 2021 what 3.71 billion give or take. Could a lobbyists firm be created with the explicit goal to end what it does itself. an anti lobbyists lobby if you will. Could we buy this government back if it's truly the money permeating and dictating politics and policy? Consumer debt is at 15-16 trillion, why not use that borrowing power collectively to simply out spend x2-3 fold? If a congressman or senator is only out for enrichment let's buy them out to enact policy to end this game all together. I don't what I'm talking about at all, these are just thoughts I have. Love and light kindness costs nothing. https://www.statista.com/statistics/257337/total-lobbying-spending-in-the-us/ https://www.statista.com/statistics/500814/debt-owned-by-consumers-usa-by-type/

New job and sharing experience
I've been in the same position for 3 years. It's abusive, exploitative, and the CEO micromanages everything. My therapist has described her as a narcissist. I just got a new job today. HUGE UPGRADE. And I timed it exceptionally to take back some of my dignity. Rewind 3.5 years. I was desperate for a job. I called a colleague who graduated with me and I knew was working for an interesting non-profit. She recruits me in and trains me as a volunteer for 6 months while I was finishing up my license. I eventually get hired and in my first day as an employee she quits effective immediately. I was floored, but I got a day 1 promotion bc of it, soooo. Then it hit me…my boss was awful. I was about to quit too when my boss went on a 9 month leave of absence and I was essentially…
Does signing some kind of contract really stop that from being literal wage theft? Like wtlf
I’m one of the union reps so I don’t necessarily want this person to get in trouble at work over this but when he clocks out for his lunch he still offers to work. By our contract we’re supposed to receive 30 minutes unpaid off the clock for lunch. Most people take it in the lunch room, but this person is a bellman, and he will still run luggage while on lunch. I’ve told him several times to not do this as he’s not on the clock, and if he gets injured doing work related tasks while off the clock he won’t be entitled to workman’s comp. This isn’t something where you’re clocking out and just dropping keys at the security office on your way out, or in retail or restaurant work locking the door after you clock out. He’s legitimately running luggage because he wants the tip from that.…
Minimum Wage in the US
I’m going to start out by apologizing because I will probably be perceived as an asshole for this post. I have a genuine question for anyone making the federal minimum wage of 7.25/hr. Why have you not gotten a different job yet? I’m an able bodied male in my 20s, which already gives me an advantage over many people, but even my first job when I was 16 I made 8.25/hr. I seriously do not know or have any idea (other than physical or mental disabilities) why someone would take a job where you make so little money. I’ve worked manual labor jobs or similarly physically challenging jobs since graduating high school, and I have never accepted a job for less than 18/hr. I tried my best not to sound like an asshole, but it’s a difficult question to ask without sounding like an asshole.
Dear all, Until last year, I used to work at a small UK fund. However, working conditions were absolutely horrendous, primarily because of the way the owner of the firm behaved – shout at, swearing at, intimidating, and bullying employees was a sad but regular occurrence. Temper outbreaks happened often. Further to that, work-life balance was non-existent (I did 24h days on the desk countless many times), and taking days off was always a battle & highly frowned upon (along the lines of “you are young, you don't need holidays” or “taking holidays shows that you are not dedicated to the firm”). Job perks or benefits were non-existent. Quite frankly, the time at the firm was absolutely miserable & I always told myself how if I knew how horrendous the job conditions were, I would have never even started the job. This is exactly why after I finally decided to…
In my experience execs and vps just use reports and evidence from management and never consult employees about the practices and effectiveness of the middle management. And the employees, by far have the best sense of that managers effectiveness, strengths, and weaknesses.
