Can't sleep because I have anxiety about going into work tomorrow N debating if I should call in. I work at a special needs school that's understaffed, unsafe, and very unorganized. Upper management never notifies me of changes when they switch me on students. Won't properly train me and I had an aggressive student who close fit smacked me in the face twice and continued to punch me on my thighs. Even though he's small he's still strong. This a transition room with 18-21 year old and I was not mentally ready. It's just so different from the other settings I've been in. I understand it comes with the job but fuck idk if I can take it. Even the teacher was incompident in being able to help me with this student cause he'a usual aid is better at it. Like aren't you the educator here??! Our days are 8-10…

Based on 2020 data, there are less than 50,000 gun deaths in the US every year total (54% of which are suicide). Compare that to ~68,000 deaths annually and -$450 Billion dollars from lack of universal healthcare: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(19)33019-3/fulltext I'm pro basic gun control (e.g., background checks), but it's helpful to be aware of why the push for gun control now seems to have that bit of urgency that it didn't for prior mass shootings. Only because *their* lives and the lives of *their* masters are threatened, are they willing to even consider any action on gun control. It doesn't matter to the ruling capitalists/kleptocrats how many *other people's* kids are killed. Power never concedes without a demand.

I've seen people say 'but what about people who live paycheck to paycheck? they can't afford to not work' that's exactly the point. the system is built so that we are too focused surviving from paycheck to paycheck to do anything about it. it is one of the shackles put in place by the rich and powerful, and breaking those shackles was never going to be easy. but we need to remember that we are more than them, if we all collectively stop paying rent to greedy landlord and use that money to support eachother instead, we can probably alleviate some of the pain that will come with a strike or revolution. Also, people ask 'but do you know what to do next or are you just going into this without any idea what to do next?' Socialism or even non authoritarian communism is vastly better than the literal hellscape…
Down to my last 300$ (my bills add up to about 700$ every month) and decided well I’m short anyway… I bought a 20$ lottery ticket and 4 5$ tickets which support the NY school system according to the last advert I’ve seen…I “won” 5$…. Which is fine but I don’t donate because of the many stories of singular people taking advantage of it… so I have more to the government hoping a kid can get a text book but I know they won’t…. The idea of me magically getting 400$ trumps a kid getting a text book…. I could straight up buy somebody a ridiculously priced book brand new… but I spent it on a lottery ticket in the hopes of paying my bills…I fucked up. I’m selling things I thought I owned but in the end the courts going to want money and all I really have is…
