Obviously there's lots of posts like this but I'm pretty clueless and could use and any input is appreciated. I'm not sure if this is considered discrimination or how to classify it. Short version: employer threatened termination around vaccine mandates, I compiled but nothing happened to those that didn't comply. Summary: I work for local government. I'm Non union. In the fall our governor mandated all staff will be vaccinated against Covid or let go. I complied, which i wouldn't have done yet on my own but i feared for my job. The staff that never complied were made into a special teleworking unit and there are no repercussions, plus they get to telework. These are union represented job classes. Is there anything to go on here? Is it a waste of my time to try to consult with a workplace discrimination lawyer? How do I find a good one,…
I've taken a few extra sick days this year because of COVID and have two kids going to daycare and them getting sick. I just asked my boss to take a vacation day on Monday and he's trying to tell me that they have applied my vacation time to my sick days without telling me. Is this legal? From Canada, Ontario
I have two jobs right now because I'm trying to save money. One in the evening and one during the day. My day job is working at a chain coffee shop for minimum wage. Honestly, the manager isn't really bad, so I felt a bit guilty for giving her notice when she has to manage 5 stores that are already short staffed. However, during the lunch time rush today where I was alone and serving 6 people at once, it dawned on me how little I was getting compensated for my stress. Not one of those 6 customers even gave a tip! I decided it wasn't worth the pathetic pay. I have another job as I say and the opportunity to find other work, so I don't feel very concerned over it. Because I like my manager, I gave her a month's notice. It honestly isn't her fault I and…
Note: not my story, but infamous in my district. I work in a small city school district that doesn't give the time of day to anyone who isn't in a cushy office job pushing paper around. There are tons of horror stories, all involved around screwing the teachers, maintenance staff, paraprofessionals, landscaping, anyone with boots on the ground. They halved the extended contract stipends of most CTE and coaching professionals, they halved the amount of trips that students could attend besides sports (of course). But the scummiest move they had pulled was dissolving their maintenance department, firing all custodians, landscapers, etc. and told them if they wanted to continue to work for the school, they could apply at the company they outsourced to. Comparatively to the district, their benefits were slashed, and everyone who moved over had none of their years with the district apply to their new pay scales.…

Work triggered Post Traumatic Stress
I've seen someone I love struggling eveyday with retail management bulling and work triggered post traumatic stress after a medical neglect situation last year I myself witnessed and delt with because the manger on duty claimed he knows nothing but HR claims they have medical training. I just want to rip this company up in the public square but I'm not trying to make it worse at the moment. I want to help them get out. Because healthcare is tied to employment its so terrifying. Retail managers and supervisors HR people I just wish you all could set aside some of the patriachal macho bullshit and be nice to people be compationate you don't what they are dealing with inside. If you hold back the critizism focus on the good stuff and stop tripping your least favorite coworks up out of spite it could really make it easier for that…
3 months ago I told my manager I was going to be looking for a new job. I ended up just putting in my notice a few weeks ago bc I couldn’t wait any longer. I’ve been running a large project/study for the organization and my manager has become more and more passive aggressive and unprofessional towards me as well as everyone in the office. She spread our office way to thin and we are way above our capacity to manage all of our projects and I think she’s starting to feel the heat now. (Frame of reference: neighboring county has the same agency and has one active grant compared to our 16+) I am doing her a favor by giving her over a months notice and training someone to take over this stream study but our relationship is becoming very rocky and I worry about using her as a…
I live in Utah where the cost of living, luckily, isn’t too high but is getting higher and wages are stagnant. I make roughly $40k per year and I change jobs frequently enough to where having employer based health insurance just doesn’t make sense. Is there a way to get cheaper health coverage than having some dude on a phone direct me to some other dude on the phone to ultimately end up looking at $200 per month for the bare minimum? I’ve heard of people in my area paying as low as $15 per month but they never can tell me exactly how they do it. Any advice helps.
